Inquiring minds want details..

To really fill you in on our move, I suppose I should go back to the beginning of all this. After realizing we were being tugged somewhere else, I told my principal I wouldn't be returning after school ended in May. This was very hard to do - straight up quit a good job and leave behind those kids - when I had absolutely no leads on any kind of job. Anywhere.

This was back in January and it was a solid six months before anything came to fruition. I may have stressed my husband out a teeny bit. Maybe. In our search, we considered places around the country but finally settled on two dream spots where I started applying to schools - Alaska and North Carolina. Unfortunately schools in both places don't even glance at applicants until well into summer.

But the Arizona school year and our lease ended before that. So I packed up my classroom and our apartment. Here's where we get the three knowns I'd mentioned before. Did I also mention possibly stressing my husband out? Nah. Why would it?!

Brad and I joked this cardboard box was going to be our new home. Luckily, we have some really awesome friends who wouldn't have any of that - a BIG shout out of LOVE and GRATEFULNESS to Julie, Paul & Leanne for their hospitality!! So instead, this cardboard box became home to all of Brad's clothes. Not kidding - besides the duffel bag we each packed to live out of of - all Brad owns fit in that thing (I even finished filling it with some of my shoes). Please note the 3 suitcases and blue tub (2 actually) behind Brad's box - that's all my clothes.

Besides a carload of stuff, all our worldly possessions went into storage until we figured out where we were headed. We were able to rent a garage in our apartment complex for the summer, so our things only had to come down stairs to the parking lot to get stored.

Since June, we have been crashing with friends and enjoying summertime. Then I got the call I'd been hoping for - my dream school in Durham offered me a job.

I was gainfully employed again!

Best of all, we finally knew where we were moving! Our prayers were answered and things have only been looking up since. We decided to stay in Arizona through July so Brad could continue working. We did however, start looking for housing in our new city, and recently signed a lease. The dogs are ecstatic - the house is on 1/2 acre mostly wooded, fenced-in lot in Durham - definite upgrade from our former apartment! Next week, our stuff will be loaded onto a moving truck and by August 1st, we will be in North Carolina.

The last week in August will be my first week in my new school - I will be teaching kindergarten. I have never imagined myself teaching younger than 2nd, so I'm approaching this year with an open mind. It'll certainly be an adventure with these little ones, but I'm looking forward to it because I know it will only grow me as a teacher (ridiculously cheesy sounding but I'm being completely honest). Brad is currently in the works of trying to transfer within car sales, but we are not sure exactly what/where his job will be yet.

And there you have it, all the details of our move. Hopefully all questions have been answered because I feel like I have rambled enough that Lindsey should now be thoroughly satisfied.

Heads Carolina

Where to go next? That was what Brad and I kept asking ourselves. Well friends, it has been decided. We threw a dart at a map, we flipped a quarter, we threw down rock/paper/scissors. Actually, it was where the most enticing job offer came from (as in, the school I really really really wanted).

Ladies and gentlemen, in two weeks we will be living in Durham, North Carolina!
